Background: As more government information system are migrated – or being prepared to migrate – to a cloud hosting model, Federal CISOs are faced with the challenge of identifying, mitigating risk and managing risk to these systems in a new operational environment.

There is a need to collect best practices, lessons learned and additional guidance, gleaned from both agency and industry SMEs, for cloud security requirements and managing cloud operations.

This will be a cross-collaboration project with Cybersecurity COI.

Summary:

Provide guidance on establishing organization wide mechanisms for relaying cyber risks and understanding to all employees in the enterprise.  Challenges will be identified via surveys in 2016/2017 and feedback from the HR Presidential Transition Forum in September of 2016. 

Identify and document best practices, experiences and success across government which can be shared with other agencies.  The COI will create agency teams to interview the CIOs, digital services teams, and customer offices to determine how they approach CX within their agency.  These interviews will be used to document the path forward and where the government could use partners and assistance. 

Document best practices from leading high performing customer-centric organizations to assist the federal government in overcoming the challenges in creating a customer-centric culture and address employee engagement.  This will be useful for the incoming Administration as they create their CX agenda. 

Answer the question, “What is the role of the CISO regarding the secure management of cloud solutions?”  The Cloud COI will collaborate with the Cybersecurity COI to identify and interview key stakeholders to identify challenges and develop guidance to address these issues.
