Course Overview
Become a credentialed AI Governance Professional (AIGP) by earning the industry’s gold standard AI governance certification. In this five-day hybrid course, Dr. Kyle David will lead participants through the AIGP Body of Knowledge, helping them to master the exam’s four domains. After completing this course, participants will be prepared to sit for the examination and earn the AIGP certification.
What is AI governance?
AI governance is an organization’s use of laws, policies, frameworks, and best practices to implement, manage, and oversee AI through the development life cycle. This includes identifying, assessing, and mitigating AI risk. AI governance professionals ensure that their organization’s use of AI is responsible, ethical, and compliant. This allows organizations to address bias, privacy, and misuse while increasing innovation and trust.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to
Define AI and explain why it requires governance
Establish and communicate organizational expectations for AI governance
Establish policies and procedures to apply throughout the AI life cycle
Identify and explain how existing statutes, including data privacy laws, apply to AI
Summarize the main elements of the EU AI Act
Describe the main industry standards and tools that apply to AI
Govern the planning, design, development, and deployment of AI, including collection and use of data
Evaluate key factors and risks relevant to system deployment
Identify and perform key activities to assess AI models

Meet the Instructor – Dr. Kyle David
Dr. Kyle David is the Founder of Dr. David, LLC. He is a lifelong learner and educator with more than twenty years of teaching experience in K-12 and university classrooms. From 2005 to 2014, Dr. David taught overseas, splitting time between Prague, Czech Republic, and Harbin, PRC. After completing his first master’s degree at Heilongjiang University, he began in 2014 his Ph.D. in modern Chinese history at the University of California, Irvine. After completing his doctorate in 2021, he joined the U.S. Department of Energy via the Presidential Management Fellows program. There, Dr. David led the Department’s privacy workforce development efforts, which included designing and directing courses titled Foundations of Federal Privacy, Risk Management for Privacy Professionals, Data Visualization for Privacy Professionals, and AI Literacy for Privacy Professionals.
In addition to his Ph.D., Dr. David possesses five IAPP certifications and designations, including the Certified Information Privacy Professional / United States, Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe, Certified Information Privacy Manager, AI Governance Professional, and Fellow of Information Privacy.
Course Timeline & Format
Daily Schedule: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (includes a 30-minute lunch break each day)
In-person sessions will be held at the ACT-IAC Offices in Fairfax, VA. Snacks, coffee, tea, and soda will be provided. We invite you to bring your own lunch to enjoy during the break, as meals will not be provided at this event.
Virtual sessions will be conducted via Zoom, with interactive discussions and live Q&A.
