Sarah Hughes, CPTM, joined ACT-IAC in November 2022 as Manager, Professional Development. In this role, she managed the Associates and Voyagers programs.

In January 2025, Sarah was promoted to Director, Professional Development. She now oversees the entire Professional Development department. Her direct focus is the Associates and Partners programs and the Fellows community. Sarah also co-leads the ACT-IAC Academy alongside Christina Binhack, helping to deliver impactful learning opportunities across the government and industry landscape.

Sarah received her Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM) in June of 2024, demonstrating her expertise in designing and leading high-impact training programs aligned with organizational goals.

Before entering the public sector space, Sarah spent 17 years in the professional sports industry, working with organizations such as the New York Islanders, the Seattle Storm, Invite and Monumental Sports & Entertainment. Her background in fan engagement, events, and team operations continues to inform her people-first leadership style and creative approach to program development.

Sarah’s first experience with ACT-IAC dates back to her time at the Ambit Group, where she served as Director of Corporate Culture & Events. In 2018, she was honored with a Stevie Award for Employee of the Year for her contributions to culture-building and employee experience. She also served as the Social Chair – Industry for the NEXUS program from 2019 to 2020.

Outside of her professional career, Sarah enjoys long walks on the beach with her husband and their three beloved dogs: Maxine, Luna, and Velvet.
