Brett Smith

Brett Smith is Director of EFT Payments Strategies Division at the US Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service. His role is to put-into-action a digital payment transformation achieving the vision of an All-Electronic Treasury by replacing Treasury paper check payments with burgeoning payment technologies and cross-government collaborations.

Brett has served many roles in the Bureau ranging from Executive Deputy Director of the Treasury’s Philadelphia Financial Center to Chief of Staff in Treasury’s debt collections and to product development in collaboration with the private sector and federal agencies for financial products used around the globe for collections and payments.  He is active on the newly established Advisory Board for the University of Mary Washington's business school, his PMP®-applied programs, and in continued learning and certification programs for artificial intelligence, blockchain, and human-centered design.  Brett is a graduate from Washington University in St. Louis's Olin Business School and Brookings Institution partnership.
