Business Model Innovation

Abstract

The process of innovation in the Federal government is synonymous with a program, a lab, or
a change agent with a title. All too often, I’ve seen innovation programs languish without the
much-needed executive level attention, funding, and organizational credibility. Although there
are many innovation efforts across the Federal government, it’s not clear how the outcomes
scale- either within the agency or across the government. Maybe it’s time to look at innovation
as a business model or a holistic agency go-to-market operating system focused on
creating value and mission outcome.
