At this event D-Wave will demonstrate quantum optimization applications running live on a quantum computer. The applications that will be demonstrated include workforce scheduling optimization, multi-vehicle routing optimization, and resource optimization.
To-Be
D-Wave's quantum technology has been shown to reduce the time and cost of complex optimization challenges, and deliver good solutions to problems that could not be easily run on classical computing systems. Here are some examples:
The results of a proof of concept for fuelbreak planning for wildfire mitigation by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Data Center took a largely manual process and delivered a solution in seconds.
At commercial customers, an 80-hour task for driver scheduling was reduced to just 15 hours each week, an 80% time savings; a complex route planning problem was reduced from from months to under an hour; a major manufacturer reduced a production scheduling problem from 30 minutes to less than five.
Stakeholders
Several agencies and government service providers have access to our quantum cloud and have done proof of concepts for optimization problems such as fuelbreak placement for wildfire mitigation and MR- (Maintenance, Repair and Operations). Los Alamos National Lab has been a long-time customer and done extensive quantum computing research. We have als- worked with government contractors on their public sector use cases which relate to mobile network efficiencies, national security, and transportation optimizations.
We have als- provided technology and services to other Five-Eye governments for applications relating to national security, scheduling, emergency management and response and autonomy.
