Scalable Framework of Hybrid Modeling with Anticipatory Control Strategy for Autonomous Operation of Modular and Microreactors

The goal this research is to develop and validate novel and scalable models to achieve faster-than-real-time prediction and decision-making capabilities. To achieve the project goal of autonomous operation of microreactors, a novel hybrid modeling approach combining both physics-based and artificial intelligence techniques will be developed at the component or sub-system level, integrated with anticipatory control techniques, and scaled. A novel distributed anticipatory control strategy will be developed as part of the scalability analysis to understand the risk of cascading failures when emerging reactors are deployed as part of a full feeder microgrid.
