Develop robust automated machine learning detection and classification tools for acoustic species identification of toothed whale and dolphin echolocation clicks for up to 20 species found in the Gulf of Mexico. Tool development project funded from June 2018 to May 2021. Tool will be used for automated analyses of long-term recordings from Gulfwide passive acoustic moored instruments deployed from 2010-2025 to look at
environmental processes driving trends in marine mammal density and distribution.
