Accelerating and Improving the Reliability of Low Failure Probability Computations to Support the Efficient Safety Evaluation and Deployment of Advanced Reactor Technologies

This project will research artificial intelligence enabled Monte Carlo algorithms to significantly reduce the computational burden by reducing the number of finite element evaluations when estimating low failure probabilities. These will be implemented in the Multiphysics Object-Oriented Simulation Environment, which will help the nuclear engineering community to efficiently conduct probabilistic failure analyses and uncertainty quantification studies for the design and optimization of advanced reactor technologies.
