Voyagers Got Talent

Tuesday, April 2, 2019
at Jammin' Java, 227 Maple Ave E Vienna, VA 22180

The Voyager Class of 2019 invites all Fellows to Voyagers Late Night showcasing the incredible talents of this year's Voyager Class. This lively show will feature musical jams, a lip sync battle and skits featuring creatures from the beyond!

In addition to a fun and entertaining time, Voyagers Got Talent is also an opportunity to give back to an incredible charity. This year the Voyagers have chosen raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of America. One of Voyagers very own was recently diagnosed with lupus, and the class is eager to support their classmate and the 1.5 million people across the country affected by the disease.

Lupus is an unpredictable and misunderstood autoimmune disease that ravages different parts of the body. Says the 2019 Voyager,

Some days I feel fine, and the next day I'm in a lot of pain. The unpredictability of it has been the most frustrating, after taking over 3 months to diagnose. It can make me fatigued very quickly, and occasionally confused, or it's harder to articulate what I'm trying to say. Right now, I am lucky that these are my only symptoms; but it's hard not to get scared when you see others needing kidney transplants or wheelchairs to deal with the pain and other effects. But I am a Lupus Warrior and am thrilled that the Voyagers (and you!) are willing to support me and my fellow Warriors through Voyagers Go Talent.

The Lupus Foundation of America's mission is to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy. In leading the fight against Lupus for 40 years they have made pioneering contributions toward ending the brutal impact of lupus.

to this important work and help Voyagers meet their fundraising goal.
