Renee Macklin

IT Director, Enterprise Services

Renee is an accomplished executive across IT, cybersecurity, strategy, change management and operations.  As a transformational leader, she has been instrumental in developing the business strategy, vision, and roadmap for a new operating model within the government.

She currently serves as the IT Director of Enterprise Services for the Department of Commerce (DOC).  In this capacity, she has leadership responsibility for all IT services work within Enterprise Services, which includes Human Resources, Information Technology and Acquisitions, serving all of the Department of Commerce bureaus, totaling over 40,000 employees.  Renee has played an integral role in transforming the way DOC delivers mission enabling services through integration, automation, and enabling technology to drive standardization, process improvements, transparency, cost avoidance, and data driven decisions. 

Prior to DOC, Renee was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Small Business Administration (SBA). Renee transformed the Information Technology Organization, partnering with the business units, to deliver cutting edge IT solutions. Her IT strategy, innovation, leadership and operation experiences were key to her success in this role. Before SBA, Renee served as the CIO for the International Trade Administration, serving users in over 200 locations domestically and internationally.  Her global business strategy experience and energy were integral to her success in this position.

Renee spent over 20 years in industry, delivering visionary leadership at AT&T and Bell Atlantic, both before and after Divesture, directing Business Billing to the fortune 500 customers.  Her responsibilities were providing leadership strategy and direction for the full IT life cycle architectural design, development, and implementation of customized billing systems for fortune 500 customers. 

Renee’s capacities and successes have been recognized with several high-profile positions in both public and private sector.  Currently she serves as Vice President for Government Programs on the Association of Federal Information Resources Management Board.

Renee is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology (Bachelor’s) and American University (Master’s).
