Summary:
This project will research and develop recommendations for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on how to address some of their current data initiatives supporting 1) usage of synthetic data and/or 2) Authoritative Data Sources (ADS).
OBJECTIVE
The project is sponsored by Kshemendra Paul, Chief Data Officer, Department of Veterans Affairs. The project purpose is to develop additional research, guidance, and best practices around two potential specific data initiatives that will help mature the VA data analytics capabilities. The first initiative centers around the use and creation of synthetic data. The goal would be to develop best practices related to synthetic data, and help to highlight the value of synthetic data as it relates to data privacy. The second initiative is additional research and best practices around Authoritative Data Sources. The goal is to identify how to approach this topic from an enterprise perspective and develop practices to gain consensus around data policy and underlying data science applications. This project will allow the VA to gain insights from industry expertise to develop recommendations. These recommendations could also be valuable to other agencies across the Federal Government.
