Melvin Brown II
Melvin Brown II is currently the Director of the Enterprise Business Management Office within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at the Small Business Administration. Nickname “Mr. Turnaround” he has more than twenty years of not only turning around the lives of individuals but several organizations both in the private sector and the federal government.
Prior to joining SBA, Mr. Brown spent the last twelve years with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where he served in multiple leadership position. His most recent assignment was serving as a Senior Advisor to the DHS Presidential Transition Officer (PTO), focused on executive training, technology requirements and future transition planning activities.
Before coming to DHS, Mr. Brown was an IT Program Manager at the Federal Aviation Administration serving as Program Manager for the award-winning FAA’s Knowledge Services Network (KSN), a state-of-the-art, web-based virtual collaboration system.
Mr. Brown holds a Master of Sciences degree in Social and Organizational Learning from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Business Administration from Strayer University. Mr. Brown is a former adjunct professor with the University of Phoenix where he taught graduate and undergraduate business management. He is also a United States Marine Corps veteran where he proudly served from 1984 – 1992.
