Abstract

ACT-IAC Evolving the Workforce COI Meeting
October 15, 2020

The Evolving the Workforce Community of Interest hosted a demonstration of the brand new Cyber Career Pathways Tool, created by the Federal Interagency Cyber Career Pathway Working Group. The Cyber Career Pathways Tool, based on NIST Special Publication 800-181, is an innovative resource for cyber security professionals, hiring managers, and Federal and industry leaders, to better understand the constellation of cyber security roles and responsibilities based on the uniform standards set by the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (NICE Framework), published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The speakers shared the story behind the Cyber Career Pathways Tool and the cross-agency collaboration that made it possible. They shared insights into how you can use this tool at your workplace: including how to create better cyber security position descriptions, develop well-integrated cyber training programs, and lead more effective workforce planning for cyber security needs.

Speakers

  • Megan Caposell, Associate Chief, Workforce Planning and Talent Management, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency
  • Chris Paris, Senior Advisor, Cyber Workforce Management at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
