Gundeep Ahluwalia is a visionary leader with more than 20 years of experience in creating an innovative vision for IT strategy in the public and private sector. He currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Labor, providing strategic leadership for IT capital planning, enterprise-wide services, talent acquisition, and project initiatives to advance the Department’s mission-critical work.
Upon arriving at DOL, Mr. Ahluwalia immediately enhanced the Department’s IT commodities. Since then, he has focused on modernizing mission critical applications through the award-winning DOL IT Platform. Through the Platform, he has empowered a total transformation of the temporary visa application system, including near-real time information sharing between DOL and the Departments of State and Homeland Security.
Mr. Ahluwalia also continues to advance DOL’s progress in the Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) scorecard. DOL achieved A ratings in five categories in the last two committee hearings, including the implementation of the Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act.
Prior to DOL, he was the Deputy Director for the U. S. Food and Drug Administration and the Director for IT & Application Support for a worldwide supply chain management company. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.
