Federal Insights Exchange Session featuring Department of Veterans Affairs
Overview
The Department of Veterans Affairs provides comprehensive health services to eligible military veterans at VA medical centers and outpatient clinics located throughout the country; several non-healthcare benefits including disability compensation, vocational rehabilitation, educational assistance, home loans, and life insurance; and provides burial and memorial benefits to eligible veterans and family members at 135 national cemeteries. The VA employs 377,805 people at hundreds of Veterans Affairs medical facilities, clinics, benefits offices, and cemeteries. The VA is the largest hospital system in the US, as well as one of the largest financial support systems to 18 million Veterans.
The Department of Veterans Affairs will receive $19.6 billion in additional funding to fight the pandemic under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). The majority of the money allocated to VA will go directly to the Veterans Health Administration. This funding will provide essential medical services, including vital medical and protective equipment, testing kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and medical supplies to support growing demand for health-care services at VA facilities and through telehealth services.
The Department of Veterans Affairs leadership will conduct a roundtable to discuss current activities related to the department’s response to COVID 19.
This event is open to the federal community. We also welcome members of the federal contracting community who are not currently ACT-IAC members.
