ACT-IAC: Where government and industry leaders collaborate.

Conferences

Each year ACT-IAC plans and offers a wide range of events ranging from two hour presentations to multi-day conferences.  Regardless of the format and length of any event, they all share certain common characteristics.

  • Every event is jointly planned by a team of government and industry executives.
  • The agenda of every event addresses issues relevant to government.
  • The information presented will be current and relevant.
  • There will be an emphasis on collaboration.
  • Business development and promotion are prohibited.
  • The event will be outcome oriented.

ACT-IAC events are great opportunities to stay up-to-date on the latest policies, trends and technologies.  They also provide information and education to enhance your skills and career opportunities.  Most importantly, however, ACT-IAC events are outcome focused.  Whether the issue is acquisition, mobility, or shared services, the goal of each ACT-IAC event is to advance the issue by developing recommended strategies, policies and initiatives that will contribute to better government.

Most ACT-IAC events accept sponsors.  This an excellent way to gain visibility for your company and have a direct impact on improving government. For information on sponsorship offerings contact Nicholei Jamero at njamero@actiac.org

Each year ACT-IAC hosts four major conferences and training events for the government IT community.  These are described below.

ACQUISITION EXCELLENCE - MARCH 23, 2016 - GRAND HYATT WASHINGTON

Beginning in 2012 ACT-IAC and the General Services Administration (GSA) partnered together to create a one-day event that would provide training for the government acquisition community.  The result was the Acquisition Excellence (AE) training conference.   AE is a one-day event held in Washington, DC in the spring.  The agenda includes updates on current acquisition priorities and changes and also provides interactive sessions where government and industry executives can collaborate on current acquisition challenges and opportunities.  Over 400 executives from both government and industry attend this event which is open to both ACT-IAC members and non-members.

MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE - MAY 22-24, 2016 - HYATT REGENCY CHESAPEAKE BAY

ACT-IAC has sponsored the Management of Change (MOC) conference since 1980.  It was created by ACT’s predecessor (the Federation of Government Information Processing Councils (FGIPC)) as a forum to bring together government executives from throughout the country and from all levels of government to share ideas, solutions and strategies on the application of information technology to government.  MOC provides a forum where program managers, technology managers, acquisition officials and others can work together on real-life challenges and develop practical strategies and initiatives for improving government.  MOC also includes a technology showcase that highlights a small number of innovative products and services (participation is through a competitive process).  MOC runs from Sunday evening until Tuesday noon and is held in Cambridge, MD in May.  Approximately 400 government and industry executives participate.  MOC is primarily a members-only event and there are only a few slots available to companies that do not belong to IAC.

Executive Leadership Conference - OCtober 2016 - Williamsburg Lodge

The ACT-IAC Executive Leadership Conference (ELC) is considered the premiere collaborative and learning event in the government IT community.  First held in 1991, ELC provides a forum where senior executives from government and industry can learn from one another and collaborate on strategic and high priority issues.  To ensure an effective collaborative environment, ELC attendance is capped at 850 executives with a 1:3 (government to industry) ratio.  Held each October in Colonial Williamsburg, VA, ELC begins on Sunday evening and concludes at noon on Tuesday.  ELC is a members-only event.
