Invited Speaker: James A. "Tony" Buntyn, Senior Advisor for Cyber Security, Office of the Chief Information Officer, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

Join the ACT-IAC Cyber COI meeting to hear from featured speaker, Tony Buntyn, Senior Advisor for Cyber Security, Office of the Chief Information Officer, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Tony will discuss HUD CIO Challenges and Successes.

At the meeting, also learn about current and upcoming COI projects and how you can be involved.

About the Speaker
Mr. Buntyn has served as the CIO’s Senior Advisor for Cyber Security and Risk Management at  Housing and Urban Development since May 2019.  He is responsible for advising the CIO and staff on a wide range of issues as the department pursues a comprehensive technology modernization effort.

Mr. Buntyn comes to HUD with extensive IT and cyber experience in the private sector financial services, oil and gas, and defense industries.  He is also a retired Colonel with over 35 years of decorated service in the USAF (Active, Guard, and Reserve).  Mr. Buntyn served as the Commander of the 254th Combat Communications Group and as the first Vice Commander of USAF Cyber Command, creating the organization that is now the 24th Air Force, with over 20,000 personnel and $6B annual budget.   

Mr. Buntyn has been married for over 33 years and has 2 adult children.  The family enjoys hiking, SCUBA diving, and sailing when time allows.

Mr. Buntyn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master’s of Science in Management Computing and Systems from Houston Baptist University.
