Vice President at Large
Eric Jackson is a dynamic leader with more than 20 years of IT experience in the federal and commercial sector. He currently serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the United States Navy, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), providing capability and requirement management, IT budget planning, cyber workforce management, enterprise-wide IT operations and cyber security subject matter expertise to advance Navy Medicine global operations.
In addition to being the CIO, Mr. Jackson serves as the Navy Medicine Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and hosts monthly cybersecurity information sessions with Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs) across the globe. Mr. Jackson publishes a seasonal newsletter called Info Bytes and releases a bi-weekly email digest called 3-Things, which contains three thought-provoking, engaging, and informative articles, tools, and resources meant for busy IT professionals.
Prior to becoming the CIO, Mr. Jackson served as the Director, Enterprise Operations Management (EOM) at BUMED and held senior consulting positions with the Tri-care Management Activity (TMA) and Navy Medicine. Mr. Jackson also served as a voting member on the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Joint Portfolio Board (JPB) and the Military Health System (MHS) CIO workgroup.
Mr. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and Master of Science degree in Telecommunications from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Jackson has a Project Management certificate from UMUC and is currently a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in good standing.
Mr. Jackson personal awards included Letter of Commendation, Team Work and Extra Mile Awards, and five performance awards.
