CISO Panel: Stories from the Cyber Trenches

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
Themes Theatre
Cyber Security

The role of the CISO is dynamic and presents a challenge for those serving in this role. In the past, the information security leader served in a purely technical role. They were typically focused on tasks such as firewall configurations and password policies. Although these aspects of information security are important, the role has matured to encompass business leadership responsibilities as well. Understanding the skills, roles, and responsibilities required of the CISO is important to the mission of an organization. It is also important to understand how the CISO integrates within the organization’s mission groups, and this understanding serves to ensure that security products and services properly support mission capabilities. Additionally, one must understand how the CISO integrates with the organization’s senior leadership team in order to properly manage organizational information security risk. We will be bringing together Federal CISOs to get their take on the state of Cybersecurity and to discuss the skills that are needed to effectively manage an enterprise cybersecurity program.
