ACT-IAC and Meritalk release survey of 300 government IT leaders

Recognizing that the world is changing, ACT-IAC and Meritalk co-sponsored a survey of 300 government IT leaders to assess their opinions as to the challenges and opportunities ahead.  In the “Reimagining Government IT” study, MeriTalk surveyed more than 300 Federal finance, IT, and procurement decision makers to understand their shared vision for the future and uncover critical disparities.  The study examines modernization progress and challenges, and outlines how Feds in different functions can work together to drive good government through technology.

Highlights of the study indicate:

  • Federal finance, IT, and procurement pros say we’ve reached a modernization tipping point:
  • But current priorities may be missing the mark:
  • Federal IT modernization – it’s complicated:

After reviewing the survey results, senior executives at OMB made the following comments:

Margaret Weichert, OMB Deputy Director for Management

“The survey shows that this Administration’s IT modernization efforts are being well-received across the federal government. Old technology has long prevented our workforce from achieving their mission, but it’s clear the President’s Management Agenda was the turning point for change. Federal employees are now seeing better opportunities, processes and technology that are leading to direct, tangible results. Agencies are able to deliver better mission outcomes, provide excellent service, and be effective stewards of taxpayer dollars.”

Suzette Kent, U.S. Chief Information Officer

“Through the President’s Management Agenda, we made a commitment to technology modernization and accelerating use of leading technology practices so Federal agencies can more effectively deliver on their mission. This survey indicates that our modernization efforts have already had a positive impact. Through updating policies, enabling new funding vehicles, such as Working Capital Funds and the Technology Modernization Fund, we are making real progress on transforming our government into a model fit to serve 21st century Americans.”
