ACT-IAC: Where government and industry leaders collaborate.

Academy

A highly qualified and educated workforce – in both government and industry – is essential to the effective and innovative acquisition and management of complex information technology assets.  A major ACT-IAC mission objective is to provide education and training programs to create this workforce.  In addition to the learning opportunities provided through ACT-IAC professional development programs and events, the ACT-IAC Academy promotes high quality educational training to enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals interested in the application of technology to government.  Courses offered under the Academy are provided through partnerships with ACT-IAC members.

ACT-IAC members who register for courses offered through the ACT-IAC Academy receive a discount on the tuition fee.  ACT-IAC members interested in a partnership with ACT-IAC are invited to indicate their interest in an email to act-iac@actiac.org.

The ACT-IAC Academy is currently offering courses needed for the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-PPM) and IT Specialization (FAC-P/PM-IT).  These offerings are described below.

FEDERAL ACQUISITION CERTIFICATION FOR PROGRAM AND PROJECT MANAGERS (FAC-PPM) – SENIOR LEVEL

Program and project managers are critical to developing accurate government requirements, defining measurable performance standards, and managing life-cycle activities to ensure that intended outcomes are achieved.  The Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM) establishes the essential functional and technical competencies needed by program and project managers.  These competencies are set forth in the Office of Federal Procurement Policy memorandum of April 25, 2007 – “The Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers.”

This program provides the training that Senior-level Federal employees need to earn for this important certification, and enables industry professionals to truly “speak the same language” as their Federal colleagues.

Academy Partner:           FAC Academy

The FAC Academy offers a four course Federal Acquisition Institute verified senior level training series.  Students who complete all 96 hours of training will receive a Master’s Certificate in Federal Acquisition Management for Program and Project Managers.   For additional information on this program, including course content, schedule and fees, click here.

FEDERAL ACQUISITION CERTIFICATION FOR PROGRAM AND PROJECT MANAGERS CORE-PLUS: IT SPECIALIZATION (FAC-P/PM-IT)

The purpose of the FAC-P/PM Core-Plus specialization is to establish the additional training, experience and continuous learning requirements for FAC-P/PM certified personnel who manage specific investments requiring specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. The first core-plus area to be addressed in this certification program is for information technology (FAC-P/PM-IT) project and program managers.  This program provides the training that mid and senior-level Federal employees need to earn for this important certification, and enables industry professionals to truly “speak the same language” as their Federal colleagues.

Academy Partner:           FAC Academy

The FAC Academy offers a three course Federal Acquisition Institute verified level training series designed for mid and senior level FAC-P/PMs who are assigned to IT programs or projects.  Students who complete all 88 hours of training will receive a Master’s Certificate in Federal Acquisition Management – IT Specialization.   In order to receive this certificate students must have previously received the mid or senior level FAC-P/PM certification.  For additional information on this program, including course content, schedule and fees, click here.
