2019 Healthcare - Blockchain Forum

The American Council of Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) will have a half-day Healthcare Blockchain forum that will provide the attendees with a better understanding of where the healthcare sector is headed and/or what they have accomplished to date in regard to the Blockchain platform.  Presentations will be provided by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and its Operating Divisions (OPDIVs), Veterans Affairs (VA), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Pharma and others on whether they are actively pursuing Blockchain, are evaluating or in the process of implementing or have outcomes to share.  These government agencies, Pharma and others will share their needs, issues, barriers, and processes that have been undertaken to overcome the hurdles.  In addition, HHS will present a demonstration of its new "HHS Accelerate" initiative which uses a combination of Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and Automation.  Everyone will come away learning more about the modern health challenges and progress to date along with a deeper understanding of Blockchain in health.

objectives:

  • Share information across the healthcare sector of government, industry, academia, private sector and Pharma areas
  • Understand how barriers and issues were overcome to include cost, approvals, staff re-positioning and training, and others
  • Share lessons learned
  • Know what applications and services Blockchain is being used for in the healthcare area
  • More fully understand the processes and steps needed from concept/idea to full implementation
